Bauhinia divaricata
Dwarf Orchid Tree
Bauhinia divaricata is a small to medium sized tropical tree species. It will grow from 15 to 25 feet in height, with a rounded, rather dense crown. The tree is evergreen, although like all Bauhinia's, it is constantly replacing older leaves with new. It is not particular about the type of soil that it lives in, and can tolerate draughts. It is tropical and will die back at temperatures lower than 30 degrees F. The root system will survive temperatures in the 20's for a short period of time.
Once it matures, the Bauhinia divaricata will produce flowers profusely for 12 months out of the year . The flowers are white when they initially open. The color will then change to a soft pink as the flower ages. The flowers form in groups of 4 to 6 buds at a time, opening on a random basis. The random opening of the buds ensure that you always have a contrasting display of young white flowers, along with older pink flowers.
You are purchasing well established, very large Bauhinia divaricata in a 3 Gallon container. It measures approximately 3 to 4 feet from the top of the root ball to the top of the head. No need to hurry to put this plant in the ground. It will do well right where it is until you are ready to plant it in its final home.
Shipping Note: Please Read!!!
Your plant will be shipped in a reinforced box, in its own growing container, and with the roots undisturbed (never bare root). The extra weight may add a couple of dollars to the shipping charge, but it's worth it to receive a well-established plant that does not require immediate planting or re - potting. You may use the shipping calculator to determine what your shipping charge will be before actually placing a bid or making a purchase.
