Clerodendrum thomsoniae-Bleeding Heart is typical of the woody climbers in the genus Clerodendrum. It is evergreen in the tropics, with attractive leaves, and an easily controllable growth habit. It can be grown outdoors as a landscape plant where the temperatures stay above freezing. In colder climates it must be brought indoors for the winter.
The flowers are stunning. Variety "Delectum" will have a violet flower with a lavender calyx. Blooming period is spring through summer, but will bloom off and on all year in the tropics.
